It is proposed that a fully accredited Nursing Training College for post basic, postgraduate and speciality nursing be built at the specialist Government Hospital of Inkosi Albert Luthuli in Durban. The facility will be able to train up to 225 nurses a year in variety of specialist areas. All courses and degrees will be fully accredited.
A specialist post basic training facility would make a critical contribution to the Health of poor and indigent South Africans. The College would be a centre of excellence and would ensure vital on going and sustainable training of specialist Nurses for the entire country.
Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital is a large specialist hospital for the entire Kwa- Zulu Natal and large parts of the Eastern Cape Province. It is one of the most modern Government hospitals with state of the art equipment and is a flagship of Government Health. The hospital has already allocated land for our proposed project in its grounds and the Department of Health have indicated that they will pay the necessary specialist lecturers and management that are need for the running of the college.
Albert Luthuli has accommodation for the specialist nurses while they are being trained. It is envisaged that up to 220 specialist nurses a year will be trained at this fully accredited institution. Albert Luthuli is the perfect place for training as the Nurses have access to the most modern specialist state hospital for their training. Because of government buy in the project is sustainable.
We are currently still looking for the funds to implement this meaningful project.
If anyone is able to support or to refer us in our fund raising mission for this project is truly welcome.
